You're in luck! New Year's Resolutions are here to help you live a meaningful life all year round.

It's a new year, and with it comes a fresh start for everyone. But how do we make the most of it?

If you're feeling a little lost and unsure of what to do with your resolutions this year, there's a way to focus on them and get the most out of this New Year. (Read on and I will share my method to keep me on track…)

So what are your goals for the coming year? Achieving them will take commitment and real patience, but that's what makes it all worth it in the end.

Let's discuss how New Year's resolutions can help you start 2022…

What Are New Year's Resolutions And What Do They Mean?

New Year's resolutions are a set of personal goals for the year ahead. They can include anything from changing diet or fitness, to career changes, or charitable donations.

New Year's resolutions are not just something that people do once a year. They're an ongoing process that people undertake every single day, but it does benefit from having an annual perspective on them.

It is important to remember that New Year's resolutions are not only about the things you want to change about yourself but also about things you want to create in your life. (This is so IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER….)

There are many reasons why people make resolutions and the benefits include: feeling better about ourselves and our lives, helping us set and achieve goals, feeling more productive, being motivated to do things differently, being healthier and more confident.

Tips for Making the Most of Your New Year's Resolutions

New Year's resolutions are one of the most popular and powerful tools to help you get your life back on track and accomplish your goals.

Follow these tips and you'll be on your way to living a more fulfilled life:

Tip #1  A good starting point would be to set a goal of something manageable and achievable

      • Keep it simple: break down your resolutions into manageable tasks that can be completed in just a few minutes.
      • Be specific: narrow down your resolutions so you know what they are and what they mean.

This goal could be anything from getting out and walking 2 to 3 times per week to finally publishing that novel that's been unfinished for years. Setting achievable goals will keep motivation high and keep you on the right path. The more specific your goal, the easier it is to measure your progress.
[J2 Bonus] One way to keep on track is to set up a time each day for you to work on your resolution. It can be an hour in the morning before work, or the last hour before bed. Or maybe even 5 minutes every night while your dinner cooks in the oven. Whatever works best for you! Actually, schedule it in your calendar and set an alarm on your phone to keep you on track!

Tip #2  Commit to Your Resolution for the Long Run

Think of this as something that will be incorporated into your lifestyle [instead of] something you do until you fit into your “skinny jeans'' again. Yes, we have all been there. So if weight loss is your goal, think about it as living a healthy lifestyle and continue on while in your skinny jeans!! Long-term changes are necessary if you really want to make these changes count!

[J2 Bonus] For some people, visualizing their success is the best way to stay motivated. Think of what you will look like wearing your skinny jeans. Hell yes! Even if they are wayyy out of style…It does not matter…as long as you feel great wearing them! The key is finding out what keeps you motivated so that when your motivation starts flagging, you can do something about it ASAP!

Tip #3  Set up milestones for yourself so that you can track your progress

Setting milestones are a great way to stay on track. It will help you avoid getting too discouraged when you don't make progress right away. Goals can be anything from the number of meals you cook at home, words you write each day, to the days you have stuck to calorie goals….

      • Set deadlines: set specific time frames for when you want to complete each task or goal so that there is no room for procrastination
      • Keep Track: Follow your progress with a system of tracking. It may be that you want to create a document or something more elaborate, like a special journal…but it's important that you have a way of keeping tabs on what you're doing and how far along the path you are.

[J2 Bonus] I like to create a document in my google drive so that I can share it with others (more on this later…) and refine it as I go along my journey. When I can see the plan it helps me manage my mental and physical energy to keep me on target.

Tip #4  Create Specific Goals and Start Smaller Than You Think You Should

The tendency of people is to think that if they don't create their new year's resolutions with an overwhelming goal, then it won't be worth anything. The reality is that small steps are the way to go. (Write this down….this is HUGE!!)

If possible, start off with something you know will be easy for you to accomplish. Maybe it's setting up a weekly meal plan or maybe it's working on writing out your thoughts each morning before work. Once you have one success under your belt, it'll be easier for you to take on more challenges and reach your goals faster.
[J2 Bonus] Hello! We as women need to keep this in mind…No need for perfection…Remember what Tony Robbins says…” If perfection is your standard, then you have no standards…” I love this…

Tip #5  Focus on Your Personal Growth Without Comparing Yourself

We are surrounded by messages that tell us to compare ourselves with others in order to be happy. It is important to stop comparing yourself with others and focus on your personal growth instead.

It is also important not to compare what you have accomplished this year with what you accomplished last year or what someone else has accomplished this year. You should instead set goals for the future and focus on the things that are within your power.
[J2 Bonus] Keep focused on what you have control over…You have no control over what others do or what you have done in the past…all you can do is focus on the future…Remember the visualizing tip before, visualize what you want…Do this NOW! :)

Tip #6  Make sure you have an accountability partner who will help keep you on the right track

If you're someone who wants to reach your goal, then an accountability partner is the way to go. An accountability partner is someone who will help keep you on the right track and encourage you when you need it most. Ask a friend or family member who also wants to stick with their goals this year! Do it together…They can hold you accountable and inspire you when you need it…You can do the same for them! A win-win!
[J2 Bonus] Support is critical in achieving any goal. Having someone that is on your side and you are on theirs is creating a circle of support and positive energy. This right there is going to get the universe doing backflips to achieve your goals!

Tip #7  Plan how you are going to reward yourself each time you achieve your milestones!

Oh, this is the fun stuff! To keep yourself motivated, you should reward yourself with something you really enjoy each time you achieve a milestone. For example, if your goal was to spend more time reading or enjoying the outdoors, each time you spend more than 30 minutes or whatever time works for you, reward yourself and treat yourself for accomplishing your goal!
[J2 Bonus] We always seem to forget this part…Reward yourself for a job well done all along the way. The trick here is to enjoy the journey. We always say it but it is in the actual doing of it that gets us to the bigger goals!

Come up with a Theme for your year!

One of the tools that I have used since 2015 is to come up with a theme for the year. It is amazing what can happen when you do that…

      • 2015 - FLY (First Love Yourself)
      • 2016 - Eat, Pray, Love
      • 2017 - TR (Enrolled in Tony Robbins Events)
      • 2018 - Expansion
      • 2019 - Wedeln
      • 2020 - Positivity
      • 2021 - NO
      • 2022 - Joy

My theme for 2022 is JOY.

As I was in the process of writing this, the word joy came up three times. Even in the unlikely place of the community guidelines of Tik Tok. Like the first sentence.

This is my year of JOY…there are new things, there are old things but it is finally all falling in place to experience pure JOY.

What is your 2022 theme and why? What does it mean for your life?

New Year's Resolutions are something that should propel you forward and remind you of what you are capable of doing! They should be sources of inspiration and a way to be excited about the future! Most importantly, ONE word can let the universe know what you are broadcasting!
